We Wanted Our Corporate Event To Stand Out

“We launched a rebranded company image in May, which coincided with the FIREX International trade show at Birmingham NEC. Many of our distributors from overseas were in the UK and we wanted to celebrate our new image with them.

“Corporate events normally involve a meal or a round of golf but we wanted to do something different, to make a lasting impression.

“We found Cannon Raceway online and realised they could deliver exactly what we were looking for. The track layout seemed really good, the karts were fast and overall it looked like a great corporate package.”

Organising The Evening Was Easy

“Our visit to Cannon Raceway was the first corporate event I had organised but a lot of the work was done for me, which was really helpful. All we had to worry about was inviting people and looking after our clients on the night. Everything else had been organised.

“The team at Cannon were always on hand in the run up to the event. They put us in touch with a great photographer, organised the trophies and even printed off our company logo for the event.

“Even getting to Cannon was easy. A lot of our guests were staying near the NEC and it was just a couple of stops on the train from Birmingham International.

“When you’re arranging a corporate event, you’re never quite sure who’s going to attend until the last minute. Cannon were really flexible with last-minute changes and helped us work around this.

“I wanted to inject some competition into proceedings, with each company racing against one another. The team at Cannon suggested a Formula 1 format. This was a series of races lasting about five minutes each, so everyone got plenty of time on the track.

“It could have been chaotic, with drivers swapping cars in between races – especially as our guests had come from all over the world and English wasn’t everybody’s first language. But the staff were on hand to make sure everything ran smoothly.”

“A few of us had been karting before, but there were quite a few novices too. Everything we needed to know was explained really well beforehand, and the guys who hadn’t done it before had a great time.

“All our clients seemed to get a real kick out of it and that was partly down to the karts, which had a good pep to them and really good acceleration. People could choose their own pace, but everyone was enjoying themselves.

It’s Boosted Our Business

“Our company did really well out of the trip to Cannon. We had been dealing with some of the people we invited for years, but others were new clients. We found that many of our relationships with these companies picked up from that night.

“It was great for our own staff too. People who hadn’t been at the company for long got a chance to meet clients face-to-face, and talking to these people over the phone or email became a lot easier straightaway.

“It was great to have a laugh with people we worked with everyday. We had a few new members of staff and our visit to Cannon was a great team building exercise that helped everyone get to know each other.”

Corporate Karting Makes a Lasting Impression

“I asked one of our clients from Turkey how he found it when he got out of the kart. When he pulled off his helmet, he had a big smile on his face and said: ‘That was exhilarating.’
